Make Everyday Laundry Simpler with Our 7.5 Kg Washing Machines
At AKAI India, we design our 7.5 kg fully automatic top-load washing machines for customers who want everyday washing convenience without transferring clothes between separate tubs. Once the water connection, drainage, garments and detergent are prepared, the selected programme manages washing, rinsing and spin extraction in the same inner drum.
Our current collection includes AFT-75DGPP in Inox Grey with a plastic lid and AFT-75DBPG in Mid Black with a glass lid. The specifications appear substantially similar: both are positioned with a 5-star rating, eight wash programmes, eight water levels, a steel inner drum, Magic Filter, waterfall action, digital display, programme memory, auto balance and important safety features.
Choose capacity according to your actual laundry volume, not only the number of people at home. A 7.5 kg model can be a practical starting point for a small-to-medium household that washes regularly. A couple with frequent towels or sportswear may need as much usable capacity as a larger household that washes light garments often. Fabric bulk, wash frequency and available drying space matter as much as family size.
Who Should Choose a 7.5 Kg Washing Machine?
We recommend considering 7.5 kg when:
- Approximately two to four people share regular household laundry;
- You wash daily or several times a week rather than storing very large loads;
- Typical loads include shirts, trousers, dresses, school uniforms, towels and light bedsheets;
- You want the convenience of a single-tub fully automatic cycle;
- A top-opening design is more comfortable for your laundry area;
- You have a suitable water inlet, drainage point and earthed power connection.
These are general selection guidelines, not a guaranteed garment count. Thick cotton towels, jeans and bedding use capacity differently from lightweight synthetic clothing. Do not push garments down tightly to make a load fit; clothes require room to move for effective washing.
If you regularly wash large family loads, multiple heavy bedsheets or bulky items, compare our 8 kg, 9 kg or larger models. If most cycles contain only a few lightweight garments, a lower capacity may be more efficient for your routine.
What Does 7.5 Kg Capacity Mean?
The 7.5 kg rating generally refers to the permitted dry-clothes load under defined conditions. It does not mean every collection of items weighing exactly 7.5 kg should be washed together. Fabric volume, absorbency, balance, programme and garment-care instructions still apply.
Bulky items can occupy the drum before reaching the weight limit and become much heavier after absorbing water. Check the user manual and item care label before washing blankets, curtains, quilts or rugs. Capacity alone does not make every bulky item machine-washable.
For consistent performance, place garments loosely and distribute them around the drum. Overloading can reduce movement, rinsing and spin balance. Underloading with one heavy item can also cause imbalance, so combine compatible pieces where appropriate.
Fully Automatic Top Load Convenience
Our 7.5 kg models use a single top-opening drum for the main wash sequence. Unlike a semi-automatic twin-tub model, you do not manually transfer wet clothes from a wash tub to a spin tub. This can make the process more convenient for busy households, working professionals and users who prefer less physical handling.
Fully automatic does not mean no preparation is required. You still need to sort clothes, check pockets, use the correct detergent dose, choose a suitable programme and maintain the filter and drum. A reliable water inlet and drain arrangement are also essential.

Plastic Lid or Glass Lid: Which Should You Choose?
Choose our Inox Grey plastic-lid model when practical value and a lighter-looking neutral finish are your priorities. Plastic does not rust and is straightforward to wipe, although it should still be protected from heat, impact and heavy objects.
Choose our Mid Black glass-lid model when you prefer a darker, more premium visual finish and want to see through the lid. Glass requires careful handling and should never be used as a shelf or struck by hard objects.
Neither lid material changes wash quality by itself. Programme selection, load balance, water level, detergent and verified motor performance are more relevant to cleaning. The current specification table lists `Soft Close Lid: No` for both models, so the glass lid should not be described as soft-closing.
Magic Filter for Lint Collection
The Magic Filter is designed to collect lint released during washing. It can help reduce loose fibres circulating with clothes, but it must be cleaned regularly. Remove trapped lint at the frequency stated in the manual and refit the filter correctly.
The filter does not replace laundry sorting. Wash lint-producing towels, fleece and similar fabrics separately from dark or lint-attracting clothes where possible. AKAI should add a real filter-cleaning video and replacement-part number to provide useful first-party ownership information.
Waterfall Action and Detergent Distribution
The product specification lists two waterfall outlets. Waterfall circulation is intended to distribute water and detergent through the load. Actual results still depend on correct detergent dosing, load size, programme and water conditions.
Use detergent suitable for a fully automatic top-load machine. Excess foam can affect rinsing and operation, while too little detergent may not handle the soil level effectively. Follow both detergent packaging and appliance-manual instructions.
Avoid promising an `even wash` without defining a test method. A clearer claim is that waterfall action supports circulation and detergent distribution within the selected cycle.
Steel Inner Drum for Regular Use
Both models list a steel inner drum. A steel drum provides a durable wash surface for regular household laundry and is straightforward to maintain when used correctly.
Empty pockets before every wash to prevent coins, pins or hard objects from damaging the drum. Do not use abrasive tools. After use, remove garments promptly and follow the manual's ventilation and tub-cleaning guidance to reduce moisture and residue.
5-Star Energy Rating
Both models are sold as 5-star washing machines. A valid BEE 5-star label indicates energy performance within the applicable category and rating period. It should not be converted into an unsupported promise of a specific electricity-bill saving.
AKAI should publish the current label image, registration details, annual or per-cycle energy figure and label validity. The existing ISEER field is blank, so it should be completed where applicable or removed if it is not the correct metric for this product category.
Actual electricity use depends on programme, load, water conditions, frequency and voltage. Compare the label's measured consumption rather than relying on the star count alone.
7.5 Kg vs 8 Kg vs Larger Capacities
Choose 7.5 kg for regular small-to-medium household loads and a compact capacity decision. Choose 8 kg washing when you want slightly more flexibility for towels or less frequent cycles. Consider 9 kg or above when laundry regularly accumulates for more people or includes larger approved items.
7.5 kg Capacity
- Practical Starting Point: Small-to-medium household washing regularly
- Main Decision: Balanced everyday capacity
- Practical Starting Point: Medium household or slightly larger loads
- Main Decision: Extra headroom with similar convenience
9 kg+ Capacity
- Practical Starting Point: Larger household or high laundry volume
- Main Decision: Space, water and load frequency
These are general guidelines. Compare dimensions, programme features, consumption and your real laundry pattern before buying.
Fully Automatic vs Semi-Automatic
Choose our 7.5 kg fully automatic models when you want washing, rinsing and spinning in the same drum with less manual intervention. This format requires an appropriate inlet and drainage setup.
Choose a semi-automatic washing machine model when manual water control is valuable, water supply is irregular or you are comfortable transferring clothes between wash and spin tubs. Semi-automatic machines can offer flexibility, while fully automatic machines prioritise convenience. Neither is universally better.
Installation Checklist
Before ordering, measure the intended space and delivery route. The product dimensions are 515 x 530 x 910 mm, but allow additional clearance for lid opening, hoses, ventilation and safe access.
Confirm:
- a firm, level and dry floor;
- a properly earthed socket within approved cord reach;
- inlet pressure within the verified operating range;
- a suitable drainage point and hose route;
- enough top clearance to open the lid fully;
- a dry area protected from rain and direct heat;
- delivery access through doors, stairs or lifts.
Use professional installation where offered. Do not connect through unsafe extension boards or modify hoses and wiring without approved guidance.
